Thatch Roof

Algae, moss and fungi are widely considered to be the main cause of damage to thatched roofs, which inevitably leads to premature ageing of the thatch.

A roof covered with leaves, moss and algae takes significantly longer to dry out, thus producing damp. This creates the perfect conditions to promote the growth of fungi and ultimately decomposes the thatch reed.

Planned maintenance will multiply the lifespan of the thatch. Using a non-corrosive product, applied directly to the thatch, the algae, moss or fungi are eradicated. The treatment can even prevent fungi from becoming established in the first instance.

In most circumstances, the application can be achieved from the ground, using long reach poles and specialist spray nozzles. This negates the requirement for expensive scaffold or cherry pickers and ultimately saves thousands through extending the lifespan of the roof.
